Accessibility statement
Last updated: 12 May 2026
BlueCare is built for non-verbal and minimally verbal children with autism. Accessibility is not a checklist for us — it is the product. This page describes the actual conformance state of every shipped surface as of the date above, with named known issues.
Conformance state per surface
Marketing routes target WCAG 2.2 AA. The child communication board targets WCAG 2.2 AAA on color contrast, focus, and motion. Every surface is automatically tested with axe-core in CI plus Lighthouse on every PR; a manual screen-reader pass (VoiceOver macOS + NVDA Windows) is required before launch and is currently scheduled in Module 9 hardening.
- Marketing site (/, /signup, /login, /accessibility, /privacy, /terms, /help, /help/*) — WCAG 2.2 AA, axe-core 0 serious/critical, manual SR pass pending Module 9.
- Communication board (/[locale]/board) — WCAG 2.2 AAA on color contrast, focus rings, and motion; full keyboard navigation (Tab + arrows + Space + Enter); 44×44px minimum touch targets; prefers-reduced-motion respected.
- Caregiver dashboard (/[locale]/dashboard and sub-routes) — WCAG 2.2 AA, axe-core clean. Session replay and PDF reports tested for keyboard + screen-reader. Manual SR pass pending Module 9.
- Settings (/[locale]/settings/*) — WCAG 2.2 AA, every form field labeled, parental-PIN entry has live aria-status updates.
- Admin (/[locale]/admin and sub-routes) — WCAG 2.2 AA; j/k keyboard nav announced via aria-keyshortcuts.
- Therapist surface (/[locale]/therapist) — WCAG 2.2 AA, caseload grid is keyboard-traversable.
- High-contrast theme — meets WCAG AAA contrast (7:1+) on every text-on-background pair.
- Right-to-left layout parity — every component, icon, and animation respects writing direction; tested on every page in /ar.
Known issues
Two named items as of this revision. (1) Manual VoiceOver + NVDA screen-reader pass on the new Module 6.1 session replay, /admin, and /therapist surfaces is scheduled for Module 9 production hardening but not yet recorded. axe-core CI passes on these surfaces, but human SR review may surface improvements. (2) Symbol audit run on 2026-05-12 flagged 33 image-label mismatches, of which the vast majority are AAC iconography conventions (pointing-finger for you, arrows for grow) that Claude vision judged too literally — a refined audit prompt landing in Module 9 should reduce real mismatches to ≤ 5. We do not auto-relabel based on the current flagged set; the underlying symbol labels are correct.
